Altered ingredient amounts.I regularly make this for my son, but use one teaspoon of honey instead of sugar and throw in a couple of handfuls of blueberries for added vitamins. He loves it.-15 Feb 2010

Strawberry Banana Blast Oatmeal

Bring the oats and milk in saucepan to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook until the oatmeal has reached the desired thickness. Meanwhile, chop up the strawberries and bananas into small pieces. When the oatmeal is done mix in the strawberries and bananas and pour everything into a serving bowl.

Notes From Mr Breakfast:

Thanks to "Griffin" who has submitted a couple oatmeal recipes to the site. I've been making a couple of the recipes today (6/11/11) that people have submitted and thought I might make a couple of suggestions about this one.

This recipe is very nice with just the bananas. So if you don't have strawberries, just make it without them. You could also add a Tablespoon of strawberry jam as a replacement. Swirl it in the serving bowl for optimum presentation.

I liked adding a Tablespoon of brown sugar to this oatmeal (stirred in with the bananas). Bananas and brown sugar have a special relationship. The slight tinge of molasses in the sugar complements bananas in almost any dish.

For a final garnish, consider a sprinkling of shredded coconut. a tropical finish to an already fabulously fruity breakfast.

A healthy breakfast that should satisfy any fruit lover. Also try adding pineapple or any of your favorite fruits.

To make this at home you’ll need:

  • Powerade- Blue Powerade gives this drink its perfect ocean blue color. While you could substitute another blue sports drink, the taste may vary slightly.
  • Mountain Dew- You can’t make a Mountain Dew based beverage without the soda.
  • Lemon lime soda- Use your favorite be it Sprite, 7up or another kind.

Chia Banana Boost (Max) Tropical Smoothie Copycat Recipe

I am very excited to be creating a copycat recipe of my favorite Tropical Smoothie menu item, the Chia Banana Boost Smoothie.

I don’t know about you, but protein-packed smoothies are an absolute necessity if I want to start my day off right. I’m not really a breakfast person and I’m usually rushing around because I love milking every minute of my sleep (giving myself “just enough” time to get ready). So preparing a balanced breakfast for myself would be hilariously far-fetched. I’m pretty sure that families sitting around a table eating breakfast before heading off to work, sadly only happens in the movies in 2019. But I would also die if I went to work without fueling my body at all. So throwing 6-8 items in a blender is my favorite solution. Then I keep my large smoothie in a insulated stainless steel bottle and drink it throughout my morning, sometimes through lunch.

One of my new favorite smoothies at Tropical Smoothie is their Chia Banana Boost (or Chia Banana Max if you are adding protein). It calls for roasted bananas. This may seem like an ironic ingredient considering that I make my smoothies in a hurry, but I make a bunch of roasted bananas when I have free time in the evenings or weekends, let them cool and then freeze them.

This smoothie is all about the superfoods!

Packed with superfoods, this smoothie has the following amazingly beneficial ingredients:

  • Chia Seeds: offer plant-based omega-3 fatty acids along with a boost of fiber.
  • Coconut: They are especially high in manganese, which is essential for bone health and the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, and cholesterol. They’re also rich in copper and iron, which help form red blood cells, as well as selenium, an important antioxidant that protects your cells
  • Natural Peanut Butter: rich in healthy fats and fiber and may contribute to lowering cholesterol. Just be sure to steer clear of those with added sweeteners and opt for those that are 100% ground nuts.
  • Bananas: because they’re loaded with several kinds of good-for-you nutrients, Healthline says that bananas may help you flight cancer, asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
  • Dates: in addition to being a great source of fiber, dates provide various antioxidants that have a number of health benefits to offer, including a reduced risk of several diseases.
  • Almonds: are a natural source of 15 nutrients, including plant proteins and healthy fats. They are rich in vitamin E antioxidants, dietary fiber, riboflavin, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, protein, manganese and calcium. They also contain folate, iron, niacin, thiamine, zinc and potassium.
  • Oats: are a natural superfood because they are 100% whole grain with minimal processing, and contain vitamins, minerals and fibre. Oats are unique in that they are one of the richest sources of beta-glucan, a soluble fiber that can help lower cholesterol reabsorption.

8 Banana Recipes That Aren’t Banana Bread

For many families there are always bananas in the kitchen. It’s a staple fruit since it has its wrapper built in and is easy to eat on the go. The flavor of banana is mellow and rich at the same time, which makes it a perfect base for all kinds of desserts and breakfast recipes. But, if you’ve grown tired of making banana bread, here are 8 banana recipes that are anything but boring (and aren’t in loaf form at all).

Bananas Foster

This classic bananas dish combines bananas with a sweet caramel sauce that is a heavenly combination. Rum, cream, brown sugar, and butter make this sinful dessert irresistible. It’s perfect for topping ice cream or French toast. Get the recipe right here.

Monkey Butter

For the taste of a tropical treat monkey butter is the spread to have. Luscious pineapple, banana, and coconut together create a lively topping for ice cream or other goodies. Get the recipe right here.

Banana Pecan French Toast

French toast is a favorite at my house and this rich recipe that uses bananas and pecans to make a spectacular breakfast. Nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla make the sauce outstanding. Instead of regular bread this recipe uses challah or brioche for a next-level French toast experience. Get the recipe here.

Nutella Banana Braid

Chocolate and banana go together like PB & J or cornbread and chili. This impressive dessert is filled with bananas and Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread and finished with a beautiful design on top. You can get the recipe here.

Chocolate Banana Pops

Along the same lines frozen bananas dipped in chocolate make a wonderful snack. By using dark chocolate and no added sugar this is basically a healthy version of an ice cream bar, but you’d never know it from the delicious taste. Get the recipe here.

Bourbon Banana Butter

If you love having bananas on toast, then this bourbon banana butter is for you. Flavored with bourbon (or bourbon extract), cinnamon, and allspice this a kind of like banana refrigerator jam and goes with just about anything from ice to yogurt to oatmeal and beyond. Get the recipe right here.

Banana Cream Pie Bars

Banana cream pies are one of those desserts you don’t see to much anymore, which is a real shame since it’s a scrumptious dessert. This treat gets a makeover in the form of dessert bars which are incredibly easy to make and are oh so delectable. And, the best part is that there’s no baking involved. Get the recipe here.

Peanut Butter Banana Dusty Road Sundaes

For another blast from the past try making peanut butter banana dusty road sundaes. They’re easy to make and use not only sliced bananas, but also malted milk powder like in malted milkshakes. Get the recipe here.

Easy Banana Donuts

I have never made Donuts other than in my little Donut maker and thought it would be a great idea to learn how to make them myself !

Thinking the Donut maker is a bit of cheating. Well, can not help if technology helps us through some difficulties, right?

Anyhow, I wanted to make the old-fashioned, somewhat oily donuts. With only a simple topping and these easy Banana Donuts fit the bill perfectly.

For a beginner in making Donuts, this is the ideal recipe ! Now I am not planning on keeping the beginner status for too long, since my first batch was such a success.

Some more deep-fried Donuts in the near future and then I will move on to the healthier, baked Donuts.

Today&rsquos post would have been something else. But I learned this morning that it is National Donut Day in the United States.

And also where most of my readers are from, so at the last minute, I decided to post this recipe for easy Banana Donuts instead.

I could not possibly be the only one whom have never made the old-fashioned Donuts (not yeast based, which I believe a proper Donut is made of).

Well, I certainly hope I am not the only one living under a rock, or rather hiding behind a rock as I had always been afraid of making these from scratch, deep-fried and the whole caboodle.

Right, why Banana ? I love Banana desserts and I know Banana adds a lot of moistness to just about any baked or fried desserts.

Seeing as I first decided on the simplest topping ever, this all worked out fine. Moist, soft and flavorful Banana Donuts, with a slightly crispy outer, which are quick and easy to make. Absolutely ideal for us first time Donut makers !

Banana Honey Breakfast Blast

This is a smoothie for banana lovers. It's not an exciting smoothie, but it does seem to amplify everything that's good about bananas. I did find the amount of honey to be excessive. You can sweeten it fine with just a singe Tablespoon of honey. I actually improved my smoothie by mistake. While taking photos, the smoothie become flat looking like milk. I ran it through the blender again and dusted it again with nutmeg. That extra nutmeg made a world of difference. So I recommend mixing an 1/8 teaspoon in the smoothie and dusting it with additional nutmeg when serving. (Recipe submitted in 2003. It was tested and photographed in November 2013.)

How To Make A Banana Honey Breakfast Blast (Smoothie)

Basically, you just chuck everything in the blender. It takes about 30 seconds. Get it good and smooth and then serve with a little sprinkle of ground nutmeg for looks.

Note From Recipe Submitter:

It wasn't very healthy of me but I once made this with ice cream instead of yogurt. It's fantastic both ways.

A smoothie that highlights the flavor of banana by sweetening it with honey and adding a bit of vanilla and nutmeg.

Mr Breakfast would like to thank SweetHoney for this recipe.

It was good. I used less milk so it would be thicker. The nutmeg was a nice addition.
