With a mezcal base plus apple cider and a fizzy apple soda, this cocktail makes an intriguing fall sipper.

  • Chinese five-spice powder (optional)
  • Sugar (optional)
  • 1 oz Mezcal
  • 1 oz St-Germain
  • 1/2 oz Lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz Honey syrup*
  • 1 oz Fresh apple cider
  • 3 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
  • 2 oz Sidral Mundet (Mexican apple soda)
  • Garnish: apple slice
  1. If desired, combine equal parts five-spice powder and sugar, and use to coat the rim of a tall glass.

  2. Fill the glass with ice and set aside.

  3. Add the remaining ingredients except the Sidral Mundet to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice.

  4. Shake vigorously and strain into the prepared glass.

  5. Top with the Sidral Mundet and stir gently.

  6. Garnish with an apple slice.
