This Vegas mainstay chocolate factory brightens the holiday with its annual light display

Stroll through the illuminated cactus garden at Ethel M while snacking on an artisinal chocolate this holiday.

The holidays have brought back the very special desert oasis (or is a dessert oasis?) that embraces all things sugary and chocolate. The three-acre garden features hundreds of different cacti and desert-loving plants decorated in seasonal lights. The garden has more than a half million visitors annually, and hundreds enter this blazingly bright wonderland just this time of year.

Ethel M has stocking-stuffers galore within every shopper’s reach. Favorites such as the seasonal collection of satin crèmes or the fun holiday ornament filled with milk chocolate pecans or dark chocolate almonds are just a few choices in a bevy of beautifully designed gift options. And if you still can’t find anything, check out the shop’s custom-made gift options. The chocolates are made in small batches with the finest ingredients and no preservatives, as inspired by Ethel Mars back in the early 1900s.

Ethel M has been sweetening Las Vegas since 1981 and continues to produce some of the most outstanding chocolates and craft confections beyond the neon. Aside from the stunning decorated desertscape, Ethel M has a new look after extensive renovation focused on community engagement: a lovely new tasting room, tours, and a café that offers goodies, coffee, and, yes, hot chocolate. Want to try an interactive chocolate tasting with a bird’s eye view? The High Roller at the LINQ has now partnered with Ethel M to offer a tasting package high above the Strip on the world’s tallest observation wheel. Sip a glass of wine and learn the history of Ethel M’s love affair with the cocoa bean.

With the holiday season fast-approaching there are a variety of ideas that will have you stopping, shopping, and strolling through the sparkling cacti and the many options that Ethel M has to offer everyone on your gift list. A perfect piece of Ethel M’s decadent chocolate is the best way to get everyone in the merrymaking mood and begin making memories of the sweetest kind.

Christmas events in Las Vegas

The fact that Las Vegas is smack in the middle of the desert&mdashand perpetually illuminated&mdashmight lead you to believe the holidays are no big deal. But Sin City goes all out (Santas run riot downtown, cacti transform into Christmas trees). While there&rsquos no shortage of essential things to do and the best Las Vegas shows can be seen all year-round, celebrate the season with festive spectacles, ice-skating and other fun Christmas events, then get a little merry at some of the best Las Vegas bars and lounges.
