I mixed the eggs, salt, sugar and vanilla sugar well until they doubled in volume, I added the oil and lemon peel and I continued to mix, I added the yogurt and I mixed for about 2 minutes. Mixed flour and baking powder I incorporated them in the egg mixture.
I lined a 36/24 cm tray with baking paper, poured the composition into the tray, then placed the pitted cherries and drained the juice.
I put the tray in the preheated oven at 180 degrees C, for about 40 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test. I took the tray out of the oven after the cake was baked and let it cool.
After it cooled well, I portioned the cake and powdered it with sugar.
