This mouth-watering baked shrimp is on of my go-to recipes when I need a super easy homemade dinner fast! There is nothing easier than making oven-roasted shrimp.
I wish I had known how to bake shrimp when I was younger. I used to think shrimp was hard to cook, but little did I know how easy it is to bake in the oven. I&rsquove been oven-roasting shrimp for years now, it&rsquos really one of my favorite meals and great for a low carb diet .
Easy-Peasy Shrimp Ziti
Fresh peas add a pop of color to this creamy pasta dish.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook 1 pound ziti or rigatoni as label directs. While pasta cooks, work on sauce.
- Chop 3 garlic cloves. Add to deep 12-inch skillet, with 3 tablespoons olive oil, and cook on medium heat for 3 minutes, stirring.
- Add 1 14.5 ounce can crushed tomatoes, and 2/3 cups half-and-half to skillet. Heat to a simmering, then simmer for 2 minutes, stirring.
- Add 1 pound peeled, deveined shrimp, 1 cup frozen peas, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper to skillet. Cook until shrimp are cooked, about 5 minutes.
- Serve pasta with sauce. Garnish with sliced green onions, if desired.

How Long to Cook Shrimp on Stove?
Shrimp cooks quickly on stove so do not overcook. As soon as the shrimp turns opaque on the surface, it&rsquos cooked.
However, please make sure that you turn over to the other side to fully cook the inside.
It takes an average of 2 -3 minutes to cook shrimp on the stove top.
What Shrimp to Buy and Where to Buy?
I always buy frozen raw shrimp (tail-on or tail-off) at Target. They are available in the frozen section.
You can get 2 lbs of frozen shrimp in a packet for as low as $7.99 when it&rsquos on sale.
I prefer tail-on, shelled and deveined shrimp. However, shelled and deveined shrimp without tails will work great.
Do not buy cooked shrimp because they are already cooked. Cooking the shrimp again on a stove will make them rubbery, tasteless and tough.
What type of shrimp to use?
For this shrimp boil in oven recipe, we recommend using large shrimp with the tail on for the best presentation. We used the size 16 to 20 count, which are quite large. We’d suggest buying shrimp with the shell on that is already deveined. Then you can remove the shell after cooking the shrimp, but leave the tail on. (If your shrimp are not deveined, here’s How to Devein Shrimp.)
What about fresh or frozen shrimp? Either fresh or frozen works for this recipe! A myth about fish is that “fresh is best.” However, frozen shrimp can be higher quality than raw fish because freezing suspends the decomposing process. Also, the shelf-life of fresh shrimp is only a few days, but frozen shrimp lasts for several weeks.
If you use frozen shrimp for this recipe, here’s how to thaw frozen shrimp:
- Place the frozen shrimp in the refrigerator to thaw overnight. Or,
- On the day of serving, [lace the frozen shrimp into a large bowl with very cold water. Stir the bowl every 5 minutes to break up clumps of shrimp that freeze together. The shrimp should be defrosted in about 15 minutes.

This dish can be an amazing appetizer or delicious main dish. You could even use it to make the shrimp for a pretty yummy grilled Shrimp Po&rsquoBoy sandwich.
This recipe is very versatile. If you want to add some spices, go right ahead! Cajun spices are especially yummy if you can take the heat. We have used Slap Your Mama Seasoning for a kick in the past.
Roasted Garlicky Shrimp
