The nutritional value of black soy

Black soybeans are just a black variety of soybeans. It is a rare vegetable native to China and has been used in Chinese medicine to remove toxins from the body. Like yellow soybeans, black soybeans are considered a cheap source of protein. Black soybeans are grown to be eaten as is, like other legumes, either dried and reconstituted in water, or simply used out of the box.

Most health food stores carry organic black canned beans. The most common brand is Eden Foods. Their black soybeans are organic, non-GMO and come in BPA-free cans. Dried black soybeans are harder to find, but some stores carry them.

Nutritional value

Nutritionally, black soybeans are very similar to the usual yellow soybean varieties - fat-free and a good source of protein. They are net carbohydrates (the amount of carbohydrates per serving minus grams of fiber) and rich in protein, fiber, vitamin K, iron, magnesium, copper, manganese and riboflavin. Half a cup of canned soybeans has 1 gram of carbohydrates plus 7 grams of fiber (8 grams of total carbohydrates), 11 grams of protein and 120 calories.

The black variety is higher in some phytonutrients, including antioxidants. The only distinction between white and black soybeans is the color of the carcass, so any nutritional difference will be found in the black outer shell.

Similar to blueberries and raspberries, the dark exterior of the black variety contains antioxidants that inhibit the oxidation of other molecules.

Cooking techniques

Black soybeans are excellent substitutes for carbohydrate-rich beans, such as black beans, marinade and pinto. They do not taste like soy, as the yellow ones do, but rather like ordinary black beans.

You can replace them with dishes that appeal to black beans, such as beans, beans, bean soup, chili and 4-bean salad.

Due to its delicate skin and silky texture, black soy must be cooked a little differently than regular beans. To avoid their appearance, it is better to soak overnight and cook dried black soybeans in water. salt . You will use the same measurements of water required in the recipes using regular beans, but be sure to add salt (about 1/2 teaspoon).

And if you use a pressure cooker or a stove, when cooking black soybeans, you will need to remove it from the top a few times during the cooking process. Once the beans have reached a bare boil, reduce the heat to a temperature and remove the bluish-gray foam on top. Repeat these three steps again. If, while removing, remove some beans, rinse them before returning them to the pot. Add vegetable oil (and garlic and onion, if desired) before continuing to control foaming during cooking.

If you use a pressure cooker, cook the beans on high for 20 minutes and let the pressure drop naturally for 10 to 12 minutes. If you are cooking on the stove, cover it and cook for 1 1/2 hours until you are worried, adding more water if necessary.

Recipes Using Black Soy

You can replace black soybeans with other beans in recipes to create smaller carbohydrate dishes. For example, black soybeans can sit in sea beans in a grilled bean recipe. Try using black soybeans in your next dip dip recipe. Or, instead of traditional pinto beans, replace them with black soy in the chilled bean bowl to create a classic Mexican carb style.

5 coffee recipes you've never heard of

Correct recipes for milk drinks

To be clear to all our friends, we propose a series of articles to better understand the "specialized" terminology when we talk about coffee. Whether you are a connoisseur, a passionate or an occasional consumer, we hope you find interesting information to help you when you order a coffee, be it in a bag - for home, or in a cup - in a cafe or a coffee shop.

I will discuss in this article another important topic when drinking coffee in the city or when making it at home, namely some recipes that are prepared with the help of the espresso machine. I will talk about the weights of coffee or coffee with milk that the dishes must have when we prepare them or when we order them in the city.

List below the products and recipes based on espresso and milk that you should ask for and find in the cafes that are respected.

In the terminology of quality coffee there are:

  • 1. Macchiato - double espresso and milk cream about 80 grams.
  • 2. Cappuccino - a shot of espresso and sour cream about 150 grams.
  • 3. Flat White - double espresso and milk cream about 180 grams.
  • 4. Latte - double espresso and milk cream weighs about 300 grams and is the most voluminous of all recipes based on espresso and milk not to be confused with "cafe latte" (in Italian) or "cafe au lait" (in French ), which means coffee with milk and contains a portion of espresso to which a small portion of milk is brought separately, usually cold is an outdated recipe from the old school of coffee that is not practiced in the language of specialty coffee.

As a summary of the above, specialty coffee and its preparation have migrated from:

Possible disadvantages

Some people have concerns about soy.

As mentioned, soy protein contains phytates, also known as antinutrients. They reduce the availability of iron and zinc & # 238n soy protein (28, 29).

However, phytates do not adversely affect your health unless your diet is severely unbalanced and you rely on soy protein as a source of iron and zinc.

There is also some concern that soy intake may affect a person's thyroid function.

Soy isoflavones function as goitrogens that can interfere with thyroid function and hormone production (30, 31).

However, there are a variety of studies showing that soy has no or only a very mild effect on human thyroid function (32, 33, 34).

Moreover, many people remain free of soy protein due to its phytoestrogen content, because they fear that phytoestrogens can disrupt the level of natural hormones in the body.

Phytoestrogens are chemical compounds that occur naturally in plants and have estrogen-like properties that bind to the estrogen receptors in your body. Soybeans are a notable source of these (35).

However, soy protein powder is made from soy rinsed alcohol and water, which removes much of the phytoestrogen content (35, 36).

Similarly, many men worry that soy protein may lower their testosterone levels, but research does not support this claim.

An extensive review study showed that neither soy foods nor soy isoflavone supplements alter testosterone levels in men (37).

Finally, soy products are controversial because they are frequently genetically modified (GMOs). Currently, there is no good evidence that the consumption of genetically modified soy has adverse health effects compared to non-genetically modified varieties.

Many of the potential disadvantages of soy are attributed to the consumption of soy in general, not soy protein in particular. More research needs to be done, especially on soy protein powder, to see how it affects health.

summary While there are some potential disadvantages of soy consumption, the evidence is quite weak and suggests that most people can consume soy without problems.

Principles of the Rina 90 diet

The diet was created by an American athlete and is based on the exact combination of certain types of food to lose weight. The dissociation of foods according to macronutrients ensures easier digestion because the stomach receives only one type of food.

The Rina diet is a four-day diet plan. The first day is dedicated to protein, the second to starchy vegetables, the third to carbohydrates, and the fourth to consume only vitamins from fruits and vegetables (except for those on day 2). Every morning, drink a glass of lukewarm water with vinegar or lemon juice or a mineral water with a high sodium content. Regardless of the day you are on, at breakfast you will always consume 90% fruit, next to which you can put dried fruits, nuts or seeds. At lunch you can eat a vegetable soup with a slice of bread every day (less vitamins). This program should be followed for 90 days with a detox break in which only water is drunk every 29 days.

Meals are recommended to be taken at fixed hours as much as possible and at a distance of at least two hours between them. Breakfast can be taken until 12.00, until you can eat fruit every two hours. Lunch must be between 12.00-14.00, and dinner between 18.00-20.00. Only water, coffee and unsweetened teas can be consumed during the day.
