Mint

A delicious, aromatic drink, only good served cold. It takes time to wait until it's ready, but it's worth it. Optionally you can add a little green dye for a more intense color, but I prefer it that way, natural.
Summer recipes

  • 60 gr mint
  • 500 gr alcohol 90 degrees
  • 500 gr water
  • 250 gr sugar
  • optional green dye

Servings: 26

Preparation time: over 120 minutes

RECIPE PREPARATION Mint liqueur:

Wash the mint, break it into smaller pieces and put it in a jar with a lid. Pour the alcohol on top and close the jar tightly. We keep the jar in the sun, shaking it every day and making sure that the alcohol exceeds the mint. Keep the mint soaked for 2 weeks.

From sugar and water, boil a syrup for 2-3 minutes, leave it to cool and mix it with mint and alcohol. Strain the liquid into bottles that we close tightly and keep cold.

Serve the cold liqueur from the refrigerator as such or in different cocktails. Optionally we can add a little dye for a more intense color. We can use more mint for a more intense taste. Depending on your personal taste, change the amount of alcohol.

My recipe for mint syrup

Ingredients used:

  • 1.5 liters of water
  • 1.5 kg of sugar
  • 250 gr of mint & # 8211 leaves and stems
  • 3 lemons

I boiled the water and sugar. After the sugar melted and the mixture began to thicken, I added mint, previously washed. I chose to cut the bouquet in half.

But you can also choose to put only leaves or put finely chopped mint (for even more flavor). And I let the mixture boil for about 15 minutes. I added the juice from the three lemons and the peel.

Everything is left to infuse for at least 24 hours.

I then strained the resulting syrup and boiled it before putting it in bottles.

From the amount of ingredients above came out 1.5 liters of extraordinarily delicious syrup!

It certainly won't last until winter, because this summer's lemonades will be enhanced with this delicacy. I also tried the recipe for Shock flower syrup which has been preserved in a more special way. It's just that I didn't do the same with this syrup.

The syrup came out a light brown / cream. The super concentrated one comes out brown, by no means green. Maybe in a few days it will darken in color & # 8211 keep you updated.

Historical essay

On the border with Mexico, at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel (USA), in the mid-1930s, the indefatigable bartenders paid homage to the Aztec tribes who drank agave juice daily at dawn - they created a beautiful alcoholic composition, calling it Tequila Sunrise. The Rolling Stones rock musicians, who traveled around the states and drank only this mixture, glorified the Arizona creation.

Rising Sun cocktail recipe

For a classic IBA drink you will need:

  • orange juice - 90 ml (6 parts)
  • tequila (silver) - 45 ml (3 parts)
  • grenadine (pomegranate syrup) - 15 ml (1 part)
  • ice cubes.
  • Highball is filled with ice cubes for 2/3 of the volume.
  • First, pour the tequila, then the juice.
  • Then carefully in the center of the glass with a thin stream of grenadine pouring.

Careful! Don't mix the cocktail! Dropping on the bottom of the glass, pomegranate syrup creates a color gradation similar to sunrise.

Highball is decorated and served with a drinking straw and a spoonful of self-mixing cocktail.

Species and varieties

Time and creative people always make changes to any existing recipe. The same thing happens with Tequila Sunrise.

Wash the lemons very well and peel them. Put the lemon peels in a jar and cover them with vodka. Close the sealed jar and leave for about an hour to taste. After an hour, you will see that a juice has been left that has been mixed with vodka. Strain the juice and put it in a bowl.

Add the sugar and put the syrup on the fire only until it melts. Then remove from the heat and top with vodka. Mix the drink well and pour it into a bottle.

Then take a few ice cubes, grind them and put them in a glass. Pour lemon liqueur over the ice, decorate the glass with two mint leaves and get ready to enjoy a truly refined drink.
